Meet some of the people who have braved the shave for cancer research

Find out more about some of the incredible individuals who have taken control of their hair for brilliant cancer research. The funds they’ve raised for ACRF will help give the people they love Australia’s best cancer research.

Ali braved the shave for her mum

Ali lost her beautiful and adored mum, Deborah, to cancer just a year after diagnosis. Despite Deborah's strength, kindness and vibrancy, she found losing her hair during treatment painful.

To honour her mum and raise vital funds for lifesaving cancer research, Ali braved the shave.

"I know she felt like she had lost her femininity in losing her hair, but for me it had to opposite effect, I suppose because for me it was a choice."

Sharon shaves for her best friend

“Shaving my head and fundraising has been one of my proudest moments, I learnt so much from so many people and it also showed me that there are still beautiful people who care out there!”

Sharon bravely shaved her head to honour her close friend, who during cancer treatment suffered devastating hair loss, and raised an incredible $5,636 to help fund brilliant research.

“I’m doing it for the friend who said she sat on the floor in the shower sobbing after she started washing her hair and it was falling out in clumps”.
