Shave for the brave with the Bennett’s

I’m taking the ACRF Hair Dare to support Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) in their mission to achieve a world without cancer.

I am raising vital funds to support the 2 in 5 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. With your help, we can transform the way we prevent, diagnose and treat ALL types of cancer and put an end to this devastating disease.

Thank you for your generous donation. Supporting ACRF means giving Australia’s best cancer research to the people who need it most. That could be someone you know – someone you care about – your family, your friends, your community, perhaps even you.

This year I lost someone I loved dearly to inoperable and aggressive brain cancer. And while supporting her through her end of life treatment my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

So…. Myself , my partner and my son have all decided to put our locks on the line and shave for the brave.

Once we reach our target we will all go under the clippers and have very cold heads for winter ;)

An update from Shez

4 months on (to the day) from my diagnosis and I've completed my course of chemotherapy. It's been a wild ride and one that I couldn't have gone through without the support of my nearest and dearest, you know who you are, thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 if there's one thing I've learnt during all this it is what, and who is important in my life. You've exceeded any expectations of support that I could have hoped for 🩷🥹🩷 

I have kept this battle (which is far from over) fairly private and agonised about making this post but for a couple of reasons I think it's for the greater good- 
🩷 Ladies; I implore you, no matter your age, GET👏🏼YOURSELF👏🏼CHECKED!!!! Never in a million years did I ever expect to be told at age 43 that I have cancer, and at times I still can't believe it's happening to me. 
💙 Gentlemen; you do what you gotta do too!!! 

Yes it's out of your comfort zone but you know what's worse? Having cancer.
Just do it, for me 🙏🏼

Lastly, my superstar of a friend Haylz over in Perth and her superstar family are running a number of fundraisers currently, one being Australian Cancer Research Foundation Shave for the Brave as cancer has had a profound effect on her this year. If you could please help out if you can for them to get to their goal for this particular one I would really appreciate it. I will add the link in comments.

Today I was sung to by all the staff at NE1B QEH for my final chemo dose and I cannot say enough about how incredible they have been through the whole ordeal. People wonder how we do our job, I honestly don't know how they remain upbeat and so nice to people!

Hi all, sorry it’s been a while between posts and updates. We had a family emergency recently that needed our full attention… but we are back!!!

Also, we are having a raffle at the byford country club the evening of Friday the 12th of July and then a quiz night at The FOUND lab in byford on wed the 31st. 
We have got loads of vouchers and awesome prizes for the quiz night!!!! As well as a fun filled jam packed night of fun and shenanigans 😝

The quiz kicks off at 7 and will officially wrap up when our heads are shaved as the grand finale of our campaign. 
So make sure you’re at the quiz!!! Because we will just keep pulling names from the hat to shave our heads until we get 3 people that are in attendance to do the honours.

June is here!!!

Today is June 1st!!!! 29 days until the big shave!!! 
For those of you wondering… Adele is my BFF of 16 odd years and is just about to start her 3rd round of chemo for her battle with breast cancer. And Jodes is her amazing and ever fearless future wife by her side 🥰
If you have been following then you would know that Lyn is no longer with us and lost her battle to brain cancer in March… but she is with us! Looking down and cheering us along. ♥️ and Kate is her sister who was with Lyn for 29 days in hospice until she passed over. 
This fundraiser isn’t only for those fighting the big C, but for the families and friends that are there during the fight too!
