I am taking on 60km In May for cancer research!
In honour of the legendary Vicki Warden — walking bundle of sunshine, sass, and questionable life advice (she suggested I run for Council) — I've decided to take on the "60k in May" challenge to raise funds for cancer research.
This is no small feat for me. I’m built more for feed than speed.
I've already google-mapped my natural habitat: school, Service Tas, Council office, bakery (twice, for accuracy).
Turns out, 2km a day sounds manageable — unless I’m forced to do a desperate "Pub to Pub" sprint at the end of the month to hit the target.
Cancer research has come a long way — early detection, better treatments, even actual vaccines. Science is doing its part.
But surprise! Funding is still a daily knife fight because certain governments apparently think "hope" is enough of a treatment plan.
I'm trying to raise $1,000 to help the people who are actually doing the work.
If you can spare a dollar or two, I would love you forever (and Vicki would definitely want you to).
Or, if you're feeling reckless, come join me for a walk. I can't promise a fast pace, but I can promise nad jokes and plenty of 90's garage pop-punk music.
I am taking part in Australian Cancer Research Foundation's 60km In May challenge to help raise essential funds for lifesaving cancer research.
In May, I will be walking or running (😆😆😆) 60km or more in support of the 2 in 5 Australians who will face a cancer diagnosis by the age of 85.
By committing to support brilliant cancer research, we can help to transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL types of cancer.
Please support me in my challenge so that we can move towards a cancer-free future together.
