2KM A Day In May Challenge

Support me in backing brilliant!

I am taking part in ACRF's 2km a Day in May challenge to help raise essential funds for lifesaving cancer research.

Every day in May, I will be moving for 2kms or more in support of the 2 in 5 Australians who will face a cancer diagnosis by the age of 85.

By committing to support brilliant cancer research, we can help to transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL types of cancer.

Let's move towards a cancer-free future together

My Updates

May 30

Brisk 7km in 35 minutes this morning and haven’t lost a kg this whole month-still fat 😆. An easy 7km this arvo.  I’m not going to eat gluten or sugar for the month of June and see if this makes a difference 😉

May 29th

Lovely run this morning around Drummoyner on my day off BUT my Quads have been killing since the Pump class especially going down stairs.  Another Pump class tomorrow morning, I’m determined to get these bloody Quads strong 😆 mum’s started taking cancer meds every 2nd day due to its side effects 👍

May 27

Did my run on the treadmill this morning AND I did a Pump class too.  My quadriceps are very weak 😩

May 20

40 min good fast run, nice and cool, sprinted most of the way.  Had a lot of pent up anger, life is a struggle. Will need to take up boxing !!

May 15

Ran this morning and felt strong.  Went to Chris OBrien Lifehouse with mum and Stacey.  Disappointing results for mum-the cancers grown.  Mum probably wont take medication as she’s feeling ok.   She will go for another scan in August.  Cancer Sux 🤬 !!!

May 13th

Great running today listening to Meatloaf-like a bat out of hell 🎵🦇🏃‍♀️‍➡️💃

May 12

Mothers Day
Girls made me Nutella and fruit on pancakes.  Kristen and I ran around Abbotsford and Chiswick, felt good and fast, Kristen couldn’t keep up with me 😎

Tuesday morning

May 7

7km this morning.  Drizzly but nice and cool.  Felt okay but hate getting up early.  Mum has her scan today at Chris OBrien so fingers crossed 🤞

May 6-

Ran 7kms around Abbotsford, a nice run, felt strong at the end.  Going to eat my beef stirfry and rice dinner for some energy and will go again later.
PM-Felt fantastic tonight, I was flying, it must have been the rice 😄. Felt good to be back !!! 14 km altogether tonight

May 5th

Done 7km so far around Abbotsford and Chiswick as I wanted a change of scenery.  I tripped at the end jumping up a gutter.  Thank goodness I fell on grass-my current shoes are too long BUT Bel bought me new NIKE sneakers today and I’ll be wearing them this evening, so excited 😄. Also just realised I was able to get straight up without any trouble after I fell which I wouldn’t have been able to do a few weeks ago, getting stronger 💪
PM
Went for a great run tonight for 75 minutes to the Sailing Club and around East Drummoyne.  My new running shoes fit perfect and It was nice to have a spring in my stride.

Reward

Received a nice little bucket hat reward which I’ll wear now on my run

Exceeded Goal

I’m so happy as I exceeded my goal of reaching $300 today YAY!! Thank you to my sponsors ❤️

May 4

I ran 14 km without stopping and almost karked it.  I’ll make up the 14 km from yesterday later in the month when I’m fitter.

May 3

Didn’t feel the best today so will run 21km Saturday and 21km Sunday.  I still need to buy new running shoes.  I trod on a stone last night running and it was very painful.

May 2nd, AM and PM run

Got up early this morning at 5:30am and realised we had no Coffee left 😫 Didn’t have a good run, slow and heavy feeling, felt like I was running up a hill.  I’ll make sure I have a Coffee before this arvos run
This evenings run was a lot better.  Steph came and kept me company.  We ran in the dark and it was nice and cool.  Did a few intervals the first half and it felt great running fast.

May 1- 14 KMs Today, 30 days to go for Cancer Research

Today was my first day of completing 14kms.  I was determined to do it even though it was raining.  Not too bad for an old Tart.  Feeling stronger but need to work on my speed.  All for a fantastic cause.  Steph did really well in her 800 metre run today at the school sports carnival, 2nd place with no training. Im going to get her to join me in some of my runs this month to help motivate me.  She said she ran holding her mobile phone listening to music with ear plugs in which made her go faster.  I do the same but not with ear plugs 😄
