Why I am taking on 60km In May for cancer research!

I am taking part in Australian Cancer Research Foundation's 60km In May challenge to help raise essential funds for lifesaving cancer research.

Tuesday 18th February our world was turned upside down. Todd was diagnosed with Stage 2 Colon Cancer. A week later he had surgery to remove 15cm's of his bowel, in which they found the tumour had attached itself to the lining of his bladded and that was required to be removed as well. This is where we also found out that the cancer had spread to a lymph node and therefore further tests were required. 

After enduring a PET/MRI and CT Scan, on Thursday 3rd of April we were told that the cancer had spread to his Liver. His amazing Oncologist advised treatment needed to start ASAP. For the next 2 years Todd will undergo Immunotherapy every 3 weeks in the hope to either shrink or completely clear the cancer on his liver and if not, further surgery is required. 

I’m walking/running not just for him, but for every family who’s received that life-altering news. For those still fighting, for those we’ve lost, and for the hope that one day, we’ll have better treatments—and eventually, a cure.

Every step I take is for research, for breakthroughs, and for a future where cancer doesn’t hold so many lives in its grip. I believe in the power of community, compassion, and science—and I’m putting my feet to the pavement to prove it.
