60km In May

60km (which is nothing) in the entirety of May for cancer research, cause we were the anomaly!

I am taking part in Australian Cancer Research Foundation's 60km In May challenge to help raise essential funds for lifesaving cancer research.

In May, I will be walking or running 60km or more in support of the 2 in 5 Australians who will face a cancer diagnosis by the age of 85.

By committing to support brilliant cancer research, we can help to transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL types of cancer.

Please support me in my challenge so that we can move towards a cancer-free future together.

My Updates

At least 21 KMs down thanks to the Half Marathon we did on Sunday!

So 60KMs will go by easy I think...I hope, now that I'm semi-recovering from the 21.1KMs, which actually led us to do about 30KMS. But really I think now it's about bringing some awareness. So as you may know by now if you've read my earlier posts on either platforms. I was diagnosed with Brian Cancer at the end of last year. So what are we doing about it? Trying to live life to the fullest of course, continue as usual, maybe with just a little more zest and boldness, but learning to navigate my experiences and diagnosis as a platform.

So if it wasn't for research that was done last year, my diagnosis would still have been graded as a Grade 3 Cancer, thank God for doctors and researchers in the medical field that were able to pick up my IDH mutated gene, which changed my entire diagnosis. It was an extremely tight call, God's timing of course, I always love a good story, but I was one day out to starting my radiation treatment, followed by chemotherapy, until one of my oncologists picked up that there was missing information we needed from my pathology results in order to continue. ONE DAY OUT! Also it is only because of research that I'll be going on an experimental drug that will directly target that mutated gene and will allow me to skip the entire experience of losing hair, weight and a lot of dignity. So here's to donating to research, cause it really can change lives.
