Stories

Meet some of the people who have taken on the challenge with ACRF.

Find out more about some of the incredible individuals who have challenged themselves to raise vital funds for brilliant cancer research. The funds they’ve raised for ACRF will help give the people they love Australia’s best cancer research.

“We have always wanted to do something to honour those we have lost to cancer & help save others from its heartbreak"

Two young Victorian brothers embarked on a monumental 100-day challenge to venture from Perth to Melbourne entirely on foot, all in the name of helping to “conquer cancer. The dynamic duo, known as the Lambros,’ not only pushed their physical limits, but set their sights on raising $100,000 for Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) to support ground-breaking cancer research into all cancer types.

The decision to undertake this lifesaving adventure stemed from the deeply personal impact cancer has had on the Lambros. Lachlan and Stefan are fuelled by a shared determination to make a tangible difference.

“Challenge of a lifetime.”

A group of eight adventurers: Russell , Thomas , Abraham, Thomas, Daniel, Hamish, David and Rhyll - took on the challenge of a lifetime: a 17-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. The journey was more than just a personal achievement; it was a mission to support the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF)

TheTrek:

Over 17 days, the team navigated the stunning landscapes of the Himalayas, facing both physical and mental challenges. Starting from the bustling town of Lukla (via the "World's Most Dangerous Airport"), they treked through diverse Nepalese terrain, from thick forests to high-altitude mountain paths. Staying along the way in mountain settlements like Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Lobuche over the 2 week trek, we will finally reach the iconic Everest Base Camp on the 3rd October 2024.
