I’m taking on The Calendar Climb — a challenge where you run or walk the number of kilometres that match the day of the month. So, 1km on the 1st, 2km on the 2nd… all the way to 30km on the 30th. By the end, that adds up to 465km in 30 days. Yep, my legs are already nervous.
I’m doing this for my beautiful mum, who passed away after a brave three-year battle with cancer. She was our rock — endlessly loving, endlessly giving, and always putting everyone else first. June is her birthday month, and I wanted to do something that feels like her: full of strength, determination, and heart.
This challenge is really about showing up — day after day — just like she did. Just like so many people living with cancer do. Even on the hardest days, they keep going. And if I can move my legs for 465km to help honour that kind of courage, I will.
I’m hoping to raise funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation — to help find the answers, the treatments, and the hope that people like Mum deserved.
